M87 is a comparatively close elliptical galaxy and M87 * , its supermassive inglorious hole , was the first of these gargantuan object tobe photographed . The black hole is known for the release of a cat valium of material stretching for millions of light - year – and researchers think that the jet is powered by theft . Its vim is stolen by the black hole .

But these objects sit in the universe and interact with it , through magnetism and gravity . There are mechanism by which is it potential for black holes to lose energy . research worker build up on the observations of M87 * from the Event Horizon Telescope and used supercomputer simulation to give a theoretical model to test this idea .
