When it comes to style, comfort is key forStranger Things’Amybeth McNulty, who’s fresh off her first-everNew York Fashion Week.
“Kate Spade sent me a little look book of what the spring collection would be. I went through it and I also sent it to two of my friends to get some more opinions,” she says. “They all immediately loved the white pearl dress, and it’s also faux leather, which is really important to me.”
While it was “so amazing to have all these options” ahead of the event, McNulty says she was “completely overwhelmed in the sense of I’m so grateful, but also overwhelmed like, ‘Oh God, I don’t know what to choose.’”

The Irish-born actress went with the white pearl faux leather dress, and says the design’s material was a key part of her decision to wear it. “I really care about that. I don’t eat animal products, I don’t wear [them], so I was like, ‘This is great.’ ”
The look being “really comfy” was an added bonus. “It’s made me really happy,” she adds of the look, which she accessorized with the brand’s fleurette jewelry, Dakota shoulder bag and the Delphine shoe in cream, which she calls “my cute little flowery heels.”
“This is the most comfortable outfit I think I’ve ever worn to a thing like this,” McNulty admits. “So I’m very grateful.”
When it comes to choosing an outfit, McNulty — who rose to fame for her portrayal of Anne Shirley-Cuthbert on Netflix’sAnne with an E— says she leans heavily on her friends and family before committing to anything — especially for a major event.
“I get my opinions from my lovely friends and my family, and they help me because I could not do this on my own,” she says, as those who know her best “can see what you look like objectively.”
In general, though, she leans toward what she feels best in. “I need something that’s comfy. I need something that I feel confident and powerful in.”

Thursday’s event marked the start of McNulty’s first-ever New York Fashion Week, and she says it’s a “dream” to be there. “I feel amazing. This is so exciting.”
She got an invite days before the event, and says of her reaction: “I was like, ‘Of course I want to go!' It’s always been a little dream where I’m like, ‘That’ll never happen.’ ”
“I’m just so happy to be here,” McNulty adds of the experience, which she fit in amidst a busy schedule shooting thefifth and final season ofStranger Things.

Filming, whichbegan in January, has been “amazing,” she says, and she teases that the final installment of the hit show will be the “best” one yet.
McNulty plays Vickie,a close friend and former crush of Maya Hawke’s Robin Buckley, on the show, and she adds of the final season so far: “It has been just the most joyful, fulfilling experience.”
