It read up onGoogle Maps , coastal databases , and marine chart , but when scientist from the University of Sydney plump to shoot the breeze Sandy Island , it was no where to be found . Did the island , supposedly locate between Australia and New Caledonia , suddenly disappear like a confusing LOST secret plan twist ?
unluckily no , that was n’t the case . or else , the scientist had only undiscovered the island .
They first became suspicious of its existence when they arrived at the proper coordinates only to discover a vast dingy ocean and a water depth of over 4,500 foot . Had the island disappeared due to erosion , there would still have been a gravid chunk of land mass beneath the wafture . And how exactly Sandy Island made its way onto maps and chart as far back as 2000 is currently a mystery that the team from the University of Sydney is now trying to lick .

Was it simply human error ? It ’s certainly been know to pass off . Google Maps pulls its data from a variety of public and commercial germ , and unlike its fleet of Street View vehicles , it does n’t have a flotilla of boats scouring the satellite ’s sea for technological truth . So while the island still shows up inGoogle ’s database , do n’t expect it to be there much longer now that it ’s been essay to be fake . [ BBC ]
