TheBarbieactress also reflected on what becoming a grandmother meant to her. “Everybody said it’ll change your life when you have a grandchild, and it does,” she explained.
Perlman continued, “There’s a certain love, I mean I felt it when my own children were born, the kind of love I never felt before for anything … But this was a profound kind of feeling, and here it is again. They can do no wrong. Looking at a new human being is so amazing, that people create other people. It’s mind-boggling.”
In addition to Lucy and Grace, Perlman and Danny also share son Jacob, 36. They first began dating in 1971 and married in January 1982.Perlman and DeVito went on to separate in October 2012after 30 years of marriage. They reconciled in March 2013, before splitting again in March 2017.
Even though they remain separated, Perlman shared with PEOPLE in 2022 thatshe and Danny are still a family.
“We’re still separated, but we see each other often, and we’re still a family,” the four-time Emmy winner said. “We can do things together, we can do things separately. I’m really, really glad that Danny and I were able to navigate some rough days to be able to have this different kind of relationship. I think it’s pretty rare, but we agree on so many things that it makes sense.”
