[ The mental image ] show the solar eclipse earlier this month as covered and reveal by several different solar observatory . The inmost image show the Sun in ultraviolet igniter as read over a few 60 minutes by the SWAP musical instrument aboard the PROBA2 mission in a sun - synchronous low Earth orbit . This image is surrounded by a primer - based occultation image , reproduced in blue , taken from Gabon . Further out is a circularly block region used to by artificial means dim the cardinal sun by the LASCO instrument aboard the Sun - orbiting SOHO spacecraft . The outmost image — showing the outflowing solar corona — was lease by LASCO ten bit after the occultation and show an outflowing solar Saint Ulmo’s fire . Over the past few week , our Sun has been showing an unco gamy amount of sunspot , CMEs , and flare — action that was generally bear as the Sun is presently going through Solar Maximum — the meddlesome part of its 11 year solar cycle per second .
