The caller ’s crowing this forenoon focused on total iPad possibility weekend sale of three million ; that ’s iPad mini and fourth - generation iPads combined . And , for all we sleep with , still - uncommitted iPad 2 sale as well . It ’s a healthy number , no question , and one that would be the enviousness of Amazon and Google and Microsoft no matter what the partitioning . Still , the fact that Apple ’s chosen not to be more chondritic — and that it did n’t sell out of what was widely trust to be a supply - constrained Cartesian product — might give some pause .
