Apparently Apple is just one hypno - machine out from total world mastery . At least , that ’s my first impression of their patentediTunes Spiralmakeover . It is , as they say , trippy .
I ’ll say this for the iTunes Spiral ; it could save some time . right on now your option for viewing your library are scads of text or Cover Flow . Both dead functional , neither particularly exciting . What Spiral would do is break your music down into three levels of granularity . So if you ’re looking down a Genre vortex , you could navigate deeper into the Album abyss .
According toPatently Apple :

Each computer graphic display along the spiral could admit pictures , artwork , text , or a combination therefrom , and could take on any suitable form ( for example , a square , rectangle , orb , circle , Triangulum , or baseball field ) . For representative , each graphic could include album cover nontextual matter instance of a particular genre …
In some embodiments , an iPhone could invite a clockwise or counterclockwise input as from a round or oviform gesture receive on a click wheel or on a trace CRT screen , to change the present medicine … We may also have to now consider that the credit of a click cycle in this patent is also taking a “ virtual ” implementation into account .
You ’d then coil further down the rabbit hole until you found what you were looking for . But it does n’t stop there !

The patent also cover “ Helix ” and “ Map ” implementations , the latter of which apparently places your Rap medicine somewhere in the vicinity of Boise :
Is this the future of iTunes ? believably not this just . But you could well see how elements from these patents — which experience a bit like the notes from a extremely integrated brainstorming section — could abstract their way into the interface . And if you ’re afraid of being put under Spiral ’s spellbinding spell , no veneration ; the patent clearly say it can be turned off at any time . Assuming you have any free will leave at that full stop . [ Patently Apple ]
