A new audience confirm that hisupcoming Star Wars show , Andor , is 12 episode long . That ’s double the distance of this week’sObi - Wan Kenobi show , five installment longer than The Book of Boba Fett , and four episodes longer than each time of year of The Mandalorian . ( Animated seriesThe Bad Batch was 16 episodes , so that ’s why we ’re specifying “ live - action . ” )
And show runner Tony Gilroy is n’t stopping at 12 , as piece of work on a season two is already underway . “ It is a second season , but it ’s really , for me , the second half of the novel , ” Gilroysaid to Vanity Fair . “ This first season is about him becoming a revolutionary , and the 2d 12 episodes take him into Rogue One . ” ( Which means , as previously cover , K-2SO is not in the first time of year . )
Andor begins five yearsbefore the events ofRogue Onefollowing the eventual Rebel spy on a literary and psychological journeying toward that role . It ’ll also flashback to his puerility , all with the object tobuild out a characterwho made some decision in Rogue One that maybe did n’t make a lot of signified immediately . “ You know he ’s been fight since he was a child , correct ? He says that . You know he ’s been a guerilla hero . You certainly know he ’s been an assassin . The clause also reveals that the 12 - episode first time of year will have multiple storylines happening at the same time . Two of the big focus on Cassian , of course , and the other on Mon Mothma , represent by Genevieve O’Reilly .
“ I have the mainsheet in front of me . I have 211 speaking parts in this show . There ’s probably 75 people in there who really matter , and there ’s at least a dozen seriously important characters that we ’ll be carrying forward to the 2d [ time of year , ] ” Gilroy allege . “ It is a huge , orchestral , Dickensian ensemble casting , with Diego at the center of it , and Genevieve at the eye of another part of it . They intersect . I ’m not going to get into how they cross . They do have an intersection — but they do not fill . They will not meet until the 2nd half . ”
Gilroy also teased his excitement about the role Mon Mothma , first view at the leader of the Rebellion at the end of Return of the Jedi , has early in the season . “ I wager that when installment 104 caper , when Mon Mothma finishes the installment , that there ’ll be people tweeting about Mon Mothma , ” he say .
