A newSupermanmovie is finally in the study from a superhuman team of talents .
Writer Ta - Nehisi Coatesis write the film for Warner Bros. , and it will be produce by J.J. Abrams . There ’s no parole on a film director , a star , a plot , or anything of that nature just yet . But , really , all you need to say is Superman , Coates , and Abrams , and it ’s hard to not get worked up .
The siteShadow and Actfirst reported the news , which was then confirmed byDeadline , and io9 also independently confirm it . “ To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros. , DC Films , and Bad Robot is an honor,”Coatestold Shadow and Act . “ I look forward to meaningfully add together to the legacy of America ’s most iconic fabulous hero . ”

Abrams also give a quote to Shadow and Act . “ There is a new , brawny and moving Superman report yet to be told . We could n’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring in that story to the big blind , and we ’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the chance , ” he said .
This , of course , raises so many motion , the first of which is about sensation Henry Cavill . He ’s been quoted sayinghe’d like to reprise his roleas the Man of Steel , but from these reports , it seems like there will be some kind of search for a new actor . In fact , after this news first bump , Hollywood newsperson reporterBorys Kit said , “ Will audiences be introduced to a Black Superman ? That is the intent and something that the studio has been trying to find a room in for months if not a yr or two , harmonise to source . ”
As for a director , Abrams certainly could be a contender and , late , the Russo Brotherswere quoted as sayingthey would be making a superhero movie in the near futurity in a surprising place . DC would certainly be that for the director of multiple Marvel movies . That ’s all supposition though .

At the clip , it was widely divisive but it did show that the then - burgeoning movie maker had an interest in the role . As for Coates , few modern authors are as respected or dear . In addition to multiple substantially - selling books tackling all matter of topics , his run writingBlack Pantherand Captain America for Marvel have set up new standards for both characters . Abrams has alsostepped his toeinto amusing writing as of late .
This unexampled Superman movie , which will also be produced by Hannah Minghella , is in very early development , so there ’s no timeline beyond just getting it right at the moment . However , we will see a Kryptonian on the big screen again before then in Andy Muschietti ’s The Flash in the variety of Supergirl , played by Sasha Calle .
