We ’ve seen the last two episodes ofWarehouse 13‘s first season , and offer a coddler - devoid reexamination of tonight ’s Poe - themed artifact Leigh Hunt and next week ’s twistingseason finale , which have obscure disclosure about the Warehouse and one of the major characters .

Tonight ’s instalment is “ Nevermore ” is a bit of a restitution to the hebdomadal artefact hunts of yore , where Pete and Myka witness an artifact ’s destructive top executive , identify it , and convey it back to the Warehouse . Plus , we get to adjoin Battlestar Galactica alum Michael Hogan as Myka ’s emotionally removed Church Father who gets tangled up with an artefact touch to Edgar Allan Poe .

It ’s by no means show ’s strongest episode , but one that reflects and honour the show ’s change fibre dynamics . The artifact William Holman Hunt is passably aboveboard , without the mystery of some of the more late episodes , but the point is more that we see the team functioning more as a cohesive team . Artie is no longer hiding the musket ball from his theater of operations agent , instead giving clear , concise information where they take it . Claudia take a spin in the field , and there ’s still that playful sib relationship between Pete and Myka , even if it no longer take center stage . The major gouge on character growth is that Myka mostly sits this episode out , though we at least get a dot of crotchety Michael Hogan ( albeit only concisely crotchety ) as compensation .

But the time of year close , “ MacPherson , ” almost feels like it comes from an only different show , one dominate not by artifact hunts and special effects , but one filled with intrigue and danger . James MacPherson , whom we met a few episodes back , provides the serial publication with a much - needed and exhaustively satisfying scoundrel , one ruthless and far more cunning than anyone at the Warehouse has anticipate . All of the show ’s main characters — Artie , Myka , Pete , Claudia , Mrs. Frederic , even the little - used Leena — will have their roles to play , and there will be enough twists to keep you guessing who at the Warehouse you could really trust ( and at least one type ’s loyalties will fall squarely on the wrong side of the fence ) . We ’ll even get a Revelation of Saint John the Divine about the Warehouse itself that ’s far more frightening than what ’s inside the Dark Vault .

Warehouse 13 has been a fun , light summertime romp through humanity ’s private mystical and technological heritage . But the concluding episode suggests that the 2nd season could declare oneself more than possessed typewriter and mystical disco balls . It could bring us more into the dingy and serious underworld that craves these artifacts , and the sometimes disturb lengths the Warehouse may have to go to in ordering to protect them .
