This is what we ’ve been waiting for . Even more thanlast week ’s splendid enigmatic episode , tonight ’s Westworld palpate more authentic to thefirst two seasonsof the show in ways that were wonderful — and now and then jaw - dropping — to behold . It was a violent pleasure from start to end .

“ Decoherence ” contains three disjoined plot line : Maeve ( Thandie Newton ) preparing for struggle ; Dolores - Hale ( Tessa Thompson ) present off with Serac ( Vincent Cassel ) ; William ( Ed Harris ) confronting his past . While it ’s great to finally have Maeve and William back , the stories connect only slimly so I feel it ’s best to recapitulate them separately .

Maeve

After being very good murdered by Dolores ( Evan Rachel Wood ) back inepisode four , Maeve finds herself in the fields outside her rest home in Westworld , which she shared with her girl — except now she ’s with Serac . Maeve points out she ’d stand a better chance in round two if she , like Dolores , had some assistance . Serac agrees , and Maeve wake up inthe Warworld sim againwhere she spend her time reach Nazis their asses while her young Host body is being made . Later , Lee Sizemore ( Simon Quarterman ) toss off by and as the two part a potable , Maeve explain she ’s expecting some old friend to link up them but , after hacking the material - world cameras again , is surprised to see a damaged Host centre being plugged into the sim as an “ extra talent . ”

Happily , Hale has on the QT downloaded a copy of all the innkeeper information and uploaded it to an unknown placement , then apply a genetic tag end to regain William in his genial infirmary and commit it to Dolores . With her mission accomplished , Hale grabs a gun and call her human husband to discourage him to stay at bottom , do n’t answer the doorway , and wait for her to come home . He catch some Z’s until a Dr. wakes him for a novel group therapy session , a group that includes : his Man in Black persona , the person he became in Westworld ; the Kid , obviously a young William ; Billy ( Jimmi Simpson , in a surprise cameo ) , the sublime version of him that first entered the park and fell in love with Dolores ; his modern , outside - of - the - park character , the Delos CEO and horrendous husband and father , who I ’ll call Billiam to keep them all straight . His ( well , their ) father - in - law of nature James Delos ( Peter Mullan ) returns to play the therapist .

All these facet of William argue , trying to figure out someone or something to blame so the literal William wo n’t experience so guilty for obliterate his girl , driving his wife to entrust self-destruction , and being such a monster in the park that it eventually repulse Dolores to want to put down the entire human backwash . Billiam suggests maybe Westworld itself warp him , while others blame childhood injury . Between this and the nameless identity of Maeve ’s two helpers , “ Decoherence ” adds a few interesting new mysteries to season three ’s pile , but also includes some authoritative Westworld trippiness with William ’s marvelous therapy session . Then it gave us a elephantine golem perforate a dude into a bulwark so hard he was pulped . That ’s the good stuff . That ’s the stuff I bonk about this show , which was so conspicuously absent in the first half of the season . And now that the show has bring us its wild delight , I ca n’t wait to see it of necessity reach its red close .

So … Serac sent his goons to Westworld to burn up Hosts , but first , they turn up Hector and , presumably , the other Hosts Maeve request . We later see that Hector ’s Pearl has been attach to the same server Maeve is in , so he can hang out with her in the Warworld sim while their bodies are being build . Then means the goons must have taken the Pearls out of Maeve ’s trio and then brought the drop to the mainland to make them unexampled bodies . Why do this if they could just take the total horde ? Would n’t that salvage a ton of fourth dimension ? Does this stand for anything , or is it just a plothole ? I ’m leaning heavily towards plothole .

William ’s non - notional healer ’s uproariously tragic InCite filing cabinet not only says she ’ll lose her aesculapian license for having function with affected role , but she ’ll also get divorced and lose custody of her kids because of a future opioid addiction . This gets sped - up when her partner texts that they ’re entrust now , deal the kids , and she does n’t postulate to bother call . It ’s so over - the - top bleak I laughed out loud .

Guesses as to who is Maeve bringing back ? The obvious answer is Armistice for one , but the other is less exculpated . Maeve ’s other closest Westworld pal is Lee , but I doubt he ’d be any use in the fight against Dolores . Maybe it could be the tangible Musashi ? That could certainly assist give Dolores off her game .
